1ER MAI
Ysaline Lannes is the owner and designer of 1ER MAI, a streetwear brand launched in 2021. Her brand creates graphic and functional clothing for women, men, and unisex, inspired by workwear and countercultures, designed and made to order in their Mile-End workshop in Montreal. 1ER MAI uses upcycling to create new clothes from used clothes chosen in local thrift stores, as well as unused fabrics from local designers and manufacturers, thus contributing to the Montreal fashion industry. Each garment is designed, cut, and handmade in their workshop according to high-quality standards, ensuring a durable garment and avoiding overproduction.
The core values of the brand are based on human rights and women rights. This commitment is reflected within the company through a local and ethical production approach, as well as the promotion of manual and artisanal expertise. 1ER MAI regularly communicates about the challenges and issues present in the fashion industry, particularly the rights and recognition of garment workers.
